To keep your treatment moving along on schedule, and to avoid more frequent or longer appointments, we ask that you use some common sense when eating. Hard foods, sticky foods and foods high in sugar should be avoided. Hard foods can break brackets and wires, and sticky food can also bend and break wires and get caught on parts of your braces. Minimize sugary foods as they can cause tooth decay and related problems. Habits such as nail biting, chewing on ice, pencils, pens or other hard objects should be avoided to prevent breakage of your orthodontic appliances.
